New Student/Beginning Information

  • Indigo encourages you to attend the Beginner's Series to gently introduce yourself if you have never done yoga before. These series are held once every 3 months for 8 weeks.

  • Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga is essentially "Ashtanga-based," but it involves much more creativity for the student. The Beginner's Series is the best, most comprehensive way to learn the basics for all vinyasa-based yoga classes.

  • Premium yoga mat, unlimited water and towels and are provided at no extra cost. Indigo highly encourages students to bring their own water bottle and practice rug to help decrease the amount of waste and resources. A purified water tank is available to all students for bottle filling at no charge. Bottled water is available for a nominal fee and practice rugs (YogiToes) are available either to purchase new or rent.

  • Please arrive 10 minutes early.  The door will be locked when class begins.

  • Classes are small (only 21 students maximum) and cater to all levels with individual attention; pregnant, injured/recovering and beginning students are all welcome.

  • The yoga room is kept warm, approximately 85-90 degrees, for safe stretching and movement.

Yoga Etiquette

  • Please no cell phones. Emergency pagers only if necessary.

  • Please use the restroom before class; try not to disrupt the lesson by leaving the yoga room if possible.

  • Please arrive on time – preferably 10 minutes early to class. If you are late to class, please enter quietly with respect for other students. Don't worry about finding a place, your instructor will help you.

  • Once situated, please refrain from loud and/or any conversation. Please use the time before class to prepare yourself for your practice.

  • Be generous with your space and move your mat to accommodate other students. Try not to step on others' mats while setting up.

  • Out of respect for the practice space, students must take their shoes off before entering the studios. Place shoes under the benches out of the hallway traffic.

  • If you sweat, please clean up your area after class with spray soap and a towel.

  • Unlimited water and towels are provided; however, please ask your instructor for additional water if needed and do not disrupt the lesson to get more on your own.

  • Please make an effort not to leave class early; if it is a necessity please inform your instructor and leave as quietly as possible.

  • There is no competition in yoga. One of the principles of yoga is not to seek the fruit of actions - practice for its own sake, without regard to success or failure.
